Trilby Misso Expands to Central Queensland

16 FEBRUARY 2010

Leading personal injury law firm Trilby Misso is expanding from its Brisbane headquarters to provide services to the Central Queensland region.

Trilby Misso CEO Graeme McFadyen said the firm had engaged highly experienced lawyer John Golinelli to establish a Trilby Misso presence in Gladstone.

“John is a fantastic addition to the Trilby Misso team and he will give us a significant profile in Central Queensland,” Mr McFadyen said. “He has almost 30 years’ experience in legal practice, including 23 as a solicitor, and has extensive knowledge of Gladstone and the wider region.”

Mr Golinelli moved to Gladstone from Brisbane more than 20 years ago and is highly active in the local community. “I am thrilled to be joining forces with Trilby Misso to provide specialised expert legal services to the people of Gladstone and the surrounding areas," he said.

Mr Golinelli’s law firm, Kenny & Partners, will continue to provide all general practice legal professional services as previously.

The establishment of a Gladstone ‘arm’ of Trilby Misso is the first time the firm has had local representation outside South-East Queensland. Mr McFadyen said the firm founded by lawyer and businessman Trilby Misso at Redcliffe in 1956 has major expansion plans.

“We have plans to grow the firm and provide better service to regional clients as many of our clients have indicated a preference for a local lawyer,” Mr McFadyen said.

Trilby Misso recently opened new client service centres at North Lakes and Morayfield on Brisbane’s northern outskirts and soon will be establishing client service centres at Robina on the Gold Coast and in Ipswich, with other centres to follow.

“Trilby Misso wants to provide highly valued services to local residents in some of the most rapidly growing areas of the state,” Mr McFadyen said.

“These new centres will be staffed by highly skilled and experienced staff with a strong customer focus who will be able to assist current and future clients as well as the community generally.

“We believe that in delivering on our commitment to providing client service at the highest standard to local residents we will be maintaining the community service ideals of our founder Trilby Misso.”

Trilby Misso Given Best Employer Status

2 FEBRUARY 2010

Hewitt Associates today announced that leading personal injuries legal practice Trilby Misso Lawyers is one of the nation's best places to work, following its accreditation as a 2009 Hewitt Best Employer in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

“The Hewitt Best Employers in ANZ study is the largest employee research project and market practice audit in Australia and New Zealand," said Mary Dimitropoulos, Hewitt's team leader for employee engagement in Australia and New Zealand.
"Accreditation under this program represents a significant accomplishment and demonstrates that Trilby Misso has consistently achieved excellence in engaging and supporting its workforce.

“To achieve Hewitt Best Employers Accreditation status, Trilby Misso passed all three stages of the accreditation process,” Ms Dimitropoulos said.

“Trilby Misso is clearly an organisation that knows its people are its best asset.”

Hewitt measures the level of staff engagement through a series of on-line surveys, focus groups and interviews.
The criteria for the Hewitt accreditation included level of engagement, leadership commitment, a compelling promise to employees, alignment of employees to the company and strategy and a differentiated high performance culture.
The Hewitt surveys have found that the average level of staff engagement in Australian companies is around 54%.  Trilby Misso achieved a 79% rating.

Trilby Misso is among six contenders for the ‘Best of the Best’ award to be announced in March. It is the first legal firm in the eight year history of the awards to be recognised.

CEO Graeme McFadyen said the Hewitt Best Employer accreditation was a great honour and a tribute to the contribution of the entire team to the company’s culture and environment.

“Some years ago we recognised that to deliver on our promise of exceptional client service we needed to develop a deep culture of trust and mutual support and everything has come together extraordinarily well” Mr McFadyen said.  “It has meant a lot of hard work but now that work is paying off and our clients are the principal beneficiaries”.

This is the second major honour for the company in less than a year after winning the 2009 Panasonic Queensland Medium Business award as part of the Telstra business excellence awards.

Trilby Misso Wins Telstra Queensland Business Award

28 August 2009

Trilby Misso has become the first Queensland law firm to win a prestigious Telstra Queensland Business Award.

The Brisbane-based firm was honoured with the Panasonic Australia Medium Business Award at the Telstra presentation dinner at the Hilton Hotel on 28 July 09.

Trilby Misso CEO Graeme McFadyen said the award was a tremendous recognition of the achievements of the firm’s hardworking staff.

“We are extremely proud to become the first Queensland law firm to win a Telstra business award and the honour has come in the same year that our esteemed founder Trilby Misso passed away at the age of 92,” Mr McFadyen said.

“The firm entered the Telstra awards specifically to achieve recognition for the efforts and accomplishments of our staff and this honour is all their doing.

“Trilby Misso has recognised that to consistently deliver genuinely outstanding client service we need to build and maintain a supportive workplace culture so our staff would be motivated and enthusiastic about what we do and how we do it.

“And it has worked a treat. We have achieved a remarkably productive workplace where client needs are foremost thanks to our values program and the very positive attitude and enthusiasm of our staff.

“They deliver serious competitive advantage to the firm. Their productivity and high level of job satisfaction means our staff turnover is also half the industry average.”

The other finalists in the medium business category won by Trilby Misso were McInnes Wilson Lawyers, Ritek Building Solutions, Technigro Pty Ltd and Urban Art Projects.
