Appointment of an Ethics Officer

We aspire to have the name Trilby Misso Lawyers synonymous with principled and professional behaviour and service. To assist in achieving this, the firm has established the role of Ethics Officer.

The purpose of this position is to critically assess all aspects of the firm’s operations to ensure they are consistent with our values and philosophies. In the event that any aspect of our business is questioned, either professionally or ethically, we want to identify and rectify the behaviour in a timely manner to ensure it is not repeated.

Congratulations Neil Fitzpatrick who has been appointed this role. Neil consistently demonstrates the integrity necessary to do the role justice.

An Award For Trilby Misso

Trilby Misso were announced winners of the 2008 Seldon Gill Business Services Career Development Award presented at the ALPMA Conference in October. The industry recognised award identified Trilby Misso as a leader in the professional development of non-legal staff. Trilby Misso have implemented a number of staff development programs to ensure that all support staff as well as non-legal departments remain highly skilled and continually perform to their best ability. Since the introduction of the many staff development programs, Trilby Misso has seen a reduction in staff turnover to well below industry levels and an increase in staff satisfaction.

Trilby Misso Launches Client Service Charter

October 2008 signifies the launch of Trilby Misso’s Client Service Charter – an initiative that is an Australian first for a law firm. The Client Service Charter sets out promises to clients covering accessibility and responsiveness, keeping clients informed, security and privacy of information and a committed service. If Trilby Misso fails to deliver on any of the 15 promises to current clients, a penalty fee will be paid to the client. Trilby Misso’s dedication to the local community is also covered in the client service charter by promising to recycle a nominated amount of paper each year, and committing to donating a sum of money to various charitable organisations. Trilby Misso Staff Are Covered

6 August 2008

As of August 2008 all Trilby Misso staff are covered under a corporate membership with the Paraplegic Benefit Fund. This means that if any Trilby Misso staff sustains a permanent spinal injury they will be eligible to claim the $100,000 discretionary member benefit. This support falls under Trilby Misso’s Community Spirit Program for 2008/2009. More information can be found in the Sponsorships section of our website.

The Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF) originally focused on financial support for those who suffered a spinal cord injury; however they have now extended their focus to preventing spinal cord injuries through injury prevention programs. The programs employ people with spinal cord injuries and aim to reduce the number of serious injuries, in particular spinal cord injuries, on the road, in the workplace and in the aquatic environment. Trilby Misso Shows Support For Multicap’s Star Festival!

Trilby Misso has extended its Community Spirit Program through a new partnership with Queensland charity Multicap. The partnership will see Trilby Misso Lawyers donate a nominal amount to sponsor Multicap’s Star Festival on Saturday 19 July.

The Star Festival will be packed with a frenzy of entertainment and activities the whole family can enjoy including market stalls, face painting, show rides, animal farm, pony rides, show bags, a sausage sizzle, and choir performances. As well as including an art exhibition showcasing the talents of Multicap’s Monte Lupo artists with a disability.

The Multicap Star Festival celebrations will be held at 303 Padstow Road, Eight Mile Plains, and is an alcohol-free community event that will encourage and strengthen community links and support a valuable event in the local area.

Established in 1962, Multicap provides creative and sustainable support options for people with multiple disabilities, and challenging and complex behaviours, their families and carers in Queensland.

Trilby Misso Sponsors Asthma Foundation of Queensland

Trilby Misso are proud sponsors of ‘Inside Asthma’ an online simulation of an asthma attack, created by the Asthma Foundation of Queensland (AFQ). To view the simulation.

Inside Asthma will provide AFQ with a vital tool for communicating to health professionals, parents of children suffering asthma and residents in regional areas who are faced with difficulty in obtaining information.

May 2008 marks the launch of our new Trilby Misso website.

New Appointments

Trilby Misso would like to congratulate the following team members on their recent promotions.

Ryan Christianson was admitted as a Lawyer in January 2008. Ryan joined the Trilby Misso team in April 2007 and in this time gained essential personal injury law experience.

Kylie Hughes has been promoted to Managing Law Clerk from a paralegal role, after being with the firm since October 2006 and obtaining over two years legal experience.

Gillian Klanke has also been promoted to Managing Law Clerk. Gillian joined the Trilby Misso team in March 2006, and has worked through roles from including secretary and paralegal. Gillian has over two years personal injury experience, all within Trilby Misso.

Tran Truong is the most recent addition to the Trilby Misso team, being appointed as a Managing Law Clerk in February 2008. Tran brings with her two years of legal experience in personal injuries.
