Trilby Misso given Best Employer status

2 February 2010

Hewitt Associates today announced that legal practice Trilby Misso Lawyers is one of the nation's best places to work, following its accreditation as a 2009 Hewitt Best Employer in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

“The Hewitt Best Employers in ANZ study is the largest employee research project and market practice audit in Australia and New Zealand," said Mary Dimitropoulos, Hewitt's team leader for employee engagement in Australia and New Zealand. "Accreditation under this program represents a significant accomplishment and demonstrates that Trilby Misso has consistently achieved excellence in engaging and supporting its workforce.

“To achieve Hewitt Best Employers Accreditation status, Trilby Misso passed all three stages of the accreditation process,” Ms Dimitropoulos said.

“Trilby Misso is clearly an organisation that knows its people are its best asset.”

Hewitt measures the level of staff engagement through a series of on-line surveys, focus groups and interviews.  The criteria for the Hewitt accreditation included level of engagement, leadership commitment, a compelling promise to employees, alignment of employees to the company and strategy and a differentiated high performance culture. The Hewitt surveys have found that the average level of staff engagement in Australian companies is around 54%. Trilby Misso achieved a 79% rating.

Trilby Misso is among six contenders for the ‘Best of the Best’ award to be announced in March. It is the first legal firm in the eight year history of the awards to be recognised.

CEO Graeme McFadyen said the Hewitt Best Employer accreditation was a great honour and a tribute to the contribution of the entire team to the company’s culture and environment.

“Some years ago we recognised that to deliver on our promise of exceptional client service we needed to develop a deep culture of trust and mutual support and everything has come together extraordinarily well” Mr McFadyen said. “It has meant a lot of hard work but now that work is paying off and our clients are the principal beneficiaries”.

This is the second major honour for the company in less than a year after winning the 2009 Panasonic Queensland Medium Business award as part of the Telstra business excellence awards.
